Holland Township

Press Release
September 3, 2024

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Holland Township Deputy Mayor Scott Wilhelm, Holland Township Committeeman Robert Thurgarland, Holland Township Chief of Police Sean Gusick and Holland Township Police Sgt. Robert Young met with United States Representative Tom Kean, Jr. of New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District at the Holland Township Municipal Building to discuss the need for federal resources to expand the Holland Township Police Department’s facilities. Together, Congressman Kean and Holland Township have applied for a grant to renovate the Police Department’s limited space.

While the Township’s population has remained relatively stable, the need for police assistance has expanded exponentially. Whether for criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, medical and mental health assistance or simply community caretaking, Holland Township residents rely upon the Police Department, which while small, is present and on-call twenty-four (24) hours per day.

Congressman Kean was able to view first-hand how the Police Department’s limited space has made the challenge of community policing much more difficult.

Holland Township is grateful for Congressman Kean’s advocacy on behalf of the Township and is optimistic that a grant for police facility renovations will be approved by the United States Congress in this fiscal year.
